Mart Barrera, a towering 6'3 shooting guard, embarked on a remarkable journey in the world of college basketball in Manila, showcasing his skills and determination on the court. Initially, he made a splash at De La Salle University, but faced tough competition in a team with an already formidable lineup. Consequently, he found himself transferred to the College of St. Benilde, where he continued to hone his talent. However, amidst his endeavors at Benilde, Barrera grappled with homesickness, prompting him to make a life-changing decision. He chose to leave Manila and continue his college education in the serene surroundings of Negros Oriental. Settling down at Silliman University for a few years, he took a hiatus from his basketball dreams, focusing on academics and personal growth. Yet, the allure of the game never waned for Barrera. Fueled by his passion and determination, he decided to reignite his basketball journey. Two years after his initial taste of college basketball in Manila, Barrera found his way to the roster of Jose Rizal University, ready to make a significant impact on the court once again. His journey was a testament to his resilience and unwavering dedication to pursuing his dreams, showcasing the indomitable spirit of an aspiring athlete.
